Walk-in wine room FAQ
What you need to know about Vintage Vault: sizes, capacity, how it's built and how to get a price. Can't see your question? Ask us.
The range
What is a Vintage Vault?
A complete walk-in wine room, built in our Brisbane factory: an insulated cabinet with a double-glazed glass front, solid walnut racking, a built-in wine-cellar cooling unit and lighting. It comes in three standard sizes, so every dimension is already engineered.
What sizes are there?
How many bottles does it hold?
Each walnut bay holds 88 standard bottles and 24 glasses: 30 bottles on six tilted display shelves, 52 in individual cells and 6 standing in two backlit niches, with the glasses hanging above them. So the VV-1200 holds 88 bottles, the VV-2270 holds 176 and the VV-3340 holds 264.
Can I choose where the door goes?
On the VV-2270 the door can be at the left end, the right end, or centred between two windows. The VV-3340 has glass, door and glass in equal thirds. The VV-1200 has one full-width glass door.
Do you make other sizes?
The three standard sizes are fully engineered and quickest to quote. If your space needs something different, contact us and we can look at a custom wine cabinet.
What bottles fit?
The cells are designed for standard 750 ml bottles, from slim flutes to Champagne (about 73 to 92 mm in diameter). Magnums and 375 ml half bottles aren't designed for the cells.
How it's built
How is it cooled?
A dedicated wine-cellar cooling unit is built into the roof, flush with the ceiling inside. We've calculated the heat load of every model, and the unit runs well within its capacity. It's plug and play once the room is in place.
Will the glass fog up?
The glass is 27 mm low-E, argon-filled double glazing in heated frames controlled to the dew point, which is designed to keep the glass clear. That matters in a humid climate like Brisbane's. More in our guide to storing wine in Queensland.
How is it insulated?
The walls, roof and rear are 50 mm polyurethane insulated panels, and the floor is a 75 mm insulated panel.
What's the racking made of?
19 mm solid walnut. Bottles in the cells rest on two walnut runners that run front to back, so each bottle lies level on its body and centres itself. Because bottles ride on their bodies rather than their necks, mixed bottles can sit at slightly different heights, as in any quality rail rack.
What does it look like?
A satin-black cabinet with black-framed glass, warm 3000 K LED lighting, backlit niches and mirror stainless steel on both ends inside, which carries the racking on so the room feels larger.
Buying
How much does it cost?
Pricing is on application. Send us the model you're interested in, your preferred front and the site address, and we'll come back with a proposal including drawings and pricing.
I'm a builder or designer. Can you supply documentation?
Yes. Because the range is standard, we can supply general arrangement drawings, heat-load calculations, specification notes and renders for each model. See For builders and designers.
Where are they made?
In our factory at 60 Mica Street, Carole Park, Brisbane, by VV Wine Displays, part of the Gannon Group.
